For this sculpture I used organic material - a real crab bought at the fishmarket in Tokyo serves as positive form. It is like the lost wax technique - just that instead of the wax the organic material is burned out of the mold while baking it. Since the crab has a hard shell, the material is not burned out completely and the residues create imperfections in the negative mold that determine the look of the sculpture.

The crab is casted out of solid brass and has the size of my hand. Its sandblasted and the eyes are polished.
