squid

what lurks beneath
the waves

squids are cool and have a surreal and dreamlike quality.

“If you kill anyone, make sure to eat their heart, to gain their courage! Their rich, tasty courage...”

Professor Farnsworth, Futurama

Kraken surfacing from the mysterious depths. Monsters from the abyss of subconsciousness.

A possible archetype of the last step to non duality of darkness and light, the last fear to face before embracing emotions completely. Embracing or fleeing? Leaving the dangers behind in a cloud of dark ink.

Why do we have to consume food?

What makes an animal cute and what makes it mouthwatering?

Absorbing power by eating the monster. Digesting the fear and embodying the emotions. Tender grilled squid with a pinch of salt.
Food or art _ or what is the difference?

squid – portable sculpture
patinaed bronze ca.21x8x3,5cm

squids can grow new arms if they loose them. and they are able to camuflage by changing their skin tone.

A symbol for transformation due to its ability to change colours.

there is another squid but it’s already fossilized

everything lies in the past, long long time ago

for this sculpture I worked with the organic material as a positive form and burned it out of the mold. it has a decayed and fossilized look. it looks quite dead and has some mysticism attached.

ika shinda – dead squid
